Las certificaciones comprenden aquellas actuaciones que el estatuto de notariado denomina Fe de Vida, certificados y testimonios especiales.

Usted podrá solicitar, entre otras, las siguientes:

Certificate of no Objection to Remaining Abroad

Colombians residing abroad who hold a Student’s Visa and are required to obtain a Certificate of No Objection to their Remaining Abroad must file an application in compliance with the following.

 Requirements:

  • Substantiated request addressed to the Colombian Embassy (Washington D.C.) or the respective Consulate
  • Statement of the reasons for requesting a Certificate of No Objection and describe the program followed under the student’s visa.
  • Date of entry into the country of residence, telephone number, address and electronic mail address where the interested party may be notified.
  • Copy of valid passport.
  • Copy of Student’s Visa.
  • Personal declaration by the interested party that he/she has not received any economic support or scholarship from Colombian or United States governmental entities.
  • “Case Number” assigned.

Certificate of Survival

According to the provisions of Article 22 of Decree - Law 019 of 2012, Colombians abroad must provide proof of life before the entities that form part of the General Integral Security System every six (6) months through one of two options (A or B).

A. Before the Consulate of the circumscription where the Colombian is resident, in which case the Consul will issue the certificate of survival and send it, via electronic mail, to the address designated for the purpose by the relevant social security entity.

B.  Before the public authority of the country where the Colombian is resident which will certify his/her survival. This certification must have the respective apostille or legalization, as the case may be, and be sent by certified mail or specialized messenger service to the address and department determined for the purpose by the relevant social security entity.

The following is required if you wish this procedure to be before a Colombian consulate:

  • Personal attendance
  • Presentation of identity document or valid passport

Fee: free of charge

Certificate of existence and legal representation of companies

In accordance with Article 480 of the Code of Commerce, legal persons abroad which require a certificate of existence and legal representation of a company must request it before the respective Colombian consulate, in compliance with the following requirements:

  • Certificate of Incorporation of the company stating the partners, contributions, legal representation and term in compliance with the respective legal formalities.
  • Certification of existence and legal representation of the company issued by the competent authority of the country in which it is registered, in accordance with the legal regulations established for the purpose in that country.
  • Valid identity document of the legal representative of the company.

Certificate of Residence

Certificates of residence are issued to Colombian citizens who have been residing abroad for at least twenty-four (24) continuous months during the three (3) year period immediately preceding their arrival in the country where they will establish residence.

  • Valid Colombian passport
  • Citizenship Card and one copy
  • Presentation of documents proving residence for a period of no less than that required by the State which is to receive the document.

Note: This document serves as proof of residence abroad for more than two (2) years and is also a requirement to bring the person involved to bring his/her ménage into Colombia and is only valid for one (1) month.
